Twitter Acquires Summize Search Engine

Twitter SummizeIt turns out the rumors last week about Twitter acquiring Summize were accurate. Micro-blogging site Twitter has acquired Summize—an extraordinary search tool and an amazing group of engineers, Twitter co-founder Evan Williams confirmed.

Summize is a popular service for searching Twitter and keeping up with emerging trends in real-time. Like Twitter, Summize offers an API so other products and services can filter the constant queue of updates in a variety of ways. The Summize service and API will be merged with that of Twitter and integrated under the Twitter brand. So here is a sketch of search inside Twitter:
A sketch of search inside TwitterTwitter will be adding search and its related features to the core offering of Twitter in the very near future. In the meantime, you can access the Twitter Search Engine at search.twitter.com.

Speech Recognition in YouTube

Google has added a nice new feature in YouTubeSpeech Recognition capability in some YouTube videos that enables you to search for spoken content in the videos.
To try the Speech Recognition feature in YouTube yourself, add this gadget to your Google homepage. The search is currently limited to some political videos only but it is predicted this feature will be released throughout YouTube’s video database.

If your search query match some YouTube video, the positions are indicated by yellow markers. To read the transcribed text, hover your mouse over those markers.

It usually takes less than a few hours for a video to appear in the index after it has been published on YouTube. Speech recognition is a difficult problem that hasn’t yet been completely solved, but the people at Google are constantly working to refine their algorithms and improve the accuracy and relevance of these transcribed results to achieve almost 100% accuracy of Speech Recognition.

They use Nokia N95 as newspapers, iPhone as table-kick-balls, Blackberry as Stick-Ons and what not! Don’t believe me? See the video.

Aren’t they funny sometimes? So what special role does your mobile phone play in your daily life?

Live Edit Any Webpage

Want to edit a webpage you are surfing? Want to see how a page would seem with a different text or without a menu, etc.? You don’t need any browser plugin for getting this feature in your browser.

Its just a small (Well not exactly!) JavaScript code which you can copy-paste to your browser’s address bar while surfing a site you want to edit and make it editable.

So here goes the code:
javascript:document.body.contentEditable='true'; document.designMode='on'; void 0

Just Copy & Paste it in your browser’s address bar and start editing that page!
